Mother of 3 Teenagers

My first career is in law with over 26 years of experience as a trial attorney and a financial derivatives in-house counsel. I first experienced coaching in an organisation that I worked for. I wanted to learn more and to coach beyond the organisational space. I had put off training as a professional coach because I told myself that it could wait until my life is less busy. Life just got busier and I felt even more unsettled. It came to a point when I could not silence my inner voice, “Stop making excuses! If you don’t do this now, you will never do it! You will live to regret it!” So, I took the plunge and never looked back since! I believe coaching is my higher purpose now and I am passionate about coaching introverted individuals to be more visible on their own terms and to empower them to embrace their introverted nature as a strength.

Coaching Philosophy

My legal career has afforded me the ability to analyse and review a situation from all perspectives to get to the root cause objectively and with empathy. I offer objectivity and a safe, non-judgmental space for you to work through your goals and get from good to better to great! In my experience of coaching high performers and achievers in sales, financial services, tech and pharma, I believe that each of my clients already has the potential to achieve their greatest goals. More often than not, their mindset and limiting beliefs hold them back. As their coach, I provide a mirror to them to see who they truly are and what they are capable of. I support high-performing professionals and leaders to be visible and to stand out on their own terms with practical strategies and resources. In this age of rapid changes and uncertainties, I help leaders discover the right mindset to be agile, resilient and visionary by supporting them to create a strong vision with clarity and purpose. I also coach to create awareness of the mental blocks in their mindset that are holding leaders back from reaching their true potential. I believe that helping professionals and leaders discover their “why” and be clear on their purpose, will better enable them to manage stress and burnout better. For the more introverted leaders and professionals, given that I am also an introvert, I am able to coach and empower them to leverage their unique introverted traits to lead impactfully and excel in their performance.

Work Experience

I was a trial attorney in several law firms in Malaysia. When I moved to Singapore in 2003, I worked as an intellectual property in-house counsel followed by 15 years of experience as a financial derivatives in-house counsel in OCBC, ING Bank and BNP Paribas. I trained as a coach in 2019 and obtained my first ICF credential - Associate Certified Coach (ACC) in 2020. I also launched my life coaching practice, River Life Coaching in April 2020 during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Looking back, it was a blessing to start my coaching career as I found ways to have a global reach and have coached many professionals and leaders from all over the world for the past 3 years. I am currently an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) as well as a trained mentor coach supporting coaches who are applying for their credentials for the first time as well as those who will be renewing their credentials.
